Safinaz Ahmed
Safinaz Ahmed has built a career helping to reduce hunger around the world. Born and raised in Sudan, Safinaz is currently a free-lance consultant living in Manchester with her husband.
Safinaz earned her first degree, a BSc in Food Engineering Technology, from the University of Gezira, Sudan, and a Master of Food Biotechnology form the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, Scotland. She completed extensive research on the nutrition status of school children in Sudan while at Manchester (England) Metropolitan University.
Safinaz worked for three years with Save the Children in Iraq; eight years with the World Bank Group in Washington, DC; four years with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations in Cairo; and four years with the World Food Programme in Zimbabwe and Cameroon. Her work has included time in Yemen, Jordan, Lebanon, Iraq, Egypt, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Sierra Leone, Mozambique, South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Cameroon.
Safinaz was elected to a three-year term on the BCNH Board of Directors in September 2025.
